About Bruce:

B-MACK is a 6-piece American Alternative Soul and Rock band from New York City.
The band formed in 2017 from a collection of quirky creative paradigms who met in
three separate collaborative situations: Guitarist Ben Tyree, drummer Chris Eddleton
and keyboardist Leon Gruenbaum met in the collective known as Burnt Sugar the
Arkestra Chamber, trumpeter Sharif Kales in the West African percussion ensemble
Nubian Messengers and bassist Michael Cox in a jam session that culminated in the
project Rules of Aquah. B-MACK also has a rotating unit that includes includes
guitarist Kelvyn Bell, drummers Bill McClellan and Will Calhoun, along with periodic
guests Nubian Messengers, a much larger ensemble that provides Afro-Carribean
flavor for an extensive presentation. Influences include Hugh Masekela, Charles
Bradley, Steppenwolf, and Funkadelic. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses
Bruce Mack’s voice and Sharif Kales’ melodic interplay of the trumpet with Mack’s
physical display of introspect and the band’s individually funky attire that will make you
want to delve into the abstract lyrical narratives.

Now hailed as “a master of experimental sounds” by The Weakly Beat, B-MACK has
been placed in a number of well-curated Spotify Playlists featuring the band’s most
recent single Silent Witness and have begun getting spins of the b-side Duckgrease
Burning at The Crabhouse after the March 2024 release of the double single.
Amelia Vandergast of A&R Factory says – “Silent Witness is served with soul-infused grooves, blues-laced interstellar melodies, hip-hop with funk-infused rhythms, and unravels as a revelation in fusionism which entwines elements of the past to forge new innovative sonic trajectories. Every
progression in the song is a lesson in avant-garde experimentalism, yet it’s the
cohesive, melodious nature of this multi-faceted hit that ensnares the listener.”
